A word of warning though, Gundogman.
When you do the hot wash with soda crystals, it may release a lot of grey gunk that has built up. Most of it should wash away, but some little flecks may remain stuck to the drum or appear on the next wash.
I suggest your first wash after the hot one is of old towels - the ones you wipe the dog's paws with. If any flecks of grey...

Buy a bag of washing soda.
Tip a quarter of the bag the bag in and run it empty on the hottest wash possible (with no pre rinse)
That should improve it, but always leave the door open when it is empty for ventilation.
Repeat the hot wash with soda regularly.
If that doesn't kill the smell, run it empty with a bit of bleach in, but don't do coloureds in the next wash, just in case.

This suggests that the method by which you have it connected to the waste pipes to extract waste water is at fault. There should be a U-trap inline somewhere, to prevent foul smells from the sewer coming back up the waste pipe and entering the body of the machine.
Either you don't have a U-trap or (if this is just suddently a problem) the water is being syphoned out. Try cleaning out the waste pipe out with caustic soda or similar.

Have a look at this video, and with a bit of regular maintenance, a smelly washing machine should soon be a thing of the past. ... http:// www.esp ares.co ...-was hing-ma chine.h tml
