I am with B00 on this and may have resulted in me changing the front door locks if either of my two had done it.
to be blunt Tinks i'd tell you point blank that if a lock went on a door in my house without my consent by my kid, especially at 25, you'd be out on the streets before you could blink.

Want privacy? Get your own place!
Personally think locks on bedroom doors are quite dangerous - what if there was a fire and nobody could get to you?
nothing inside the room maybe, but if the room itself does... as B00 says, they might not be superchuffed at being denied entry to their own house
'Not caring!' an interesting response hun, I would never enter another adults room without knocking, but locks! No way.

Boo if i could get a start date believe me i would.

Nobody should be going through my things or even in my room at all. But i can understand your view

Xx
Sorry tink that you are having issues with your fogies ,maybe try talking to them ?
If they are going through your things, that needs sorting out in a sit down discussion, locks are only a patch on trust.
Who is going through your things?

I certainly wouldn't let you put a lock on my door if your intention was to move out asap.
Going through your things no, but they've every right to be in their room, and it is their room not yours :P

Your best bet would be to talk to them as already said- don't rock the boat, especially as you're relying on their generosity.

Theres massive privacy issues aside from bedroom locks....other family members have also tried to speak to the culprit....with no joy.

I keep it tidy etc, but i dont want anyone in when im not in, i know my things are being looked at and taken. I need privacy. Its horrible x
I have to agree with Boo too. We do have locks on all the bedroom doors for security when we are away, but my son (23) knew better than to lock us out. Until you have a place that is yours, paid for by you I don't think you have any right to install locks. Why don't you get a lockable box for anything you want to keep private like diaries etc.
So the full picture is that not only is someone entering your room at any given hour when you are in, but also when you are out and going through and stealing things??

You know who it is and they won't stop - Tinks, I would rather sleep on someone's floor than put up with that, it is creepy.

I cant keep a diary, that was read aswell......

I understand the points you all have, and i may sound stroppy or childish, but its a last resort and if i can manage at least a lock to use from inside my room ill be getting it.....might get a box thingy for stuff.....noseyness is a curse x
My daughter is 27 Tinks and still lives at home and I would never dream of entering her room when she was out and if I need her for anything when she's in I just shout her.

Person seems to know where things are kept, whats behind bed, in baskets etc.
Its awful.

And when im in, its just door opened and in and out as they please, even if im asleep...and i dont sleep well. :0(

Id just miss the dog coming in on the mornings for a cuddle but ill just have to miss it....untill i can get money and save x

Lucky girl traci! I wouldnt if i had kids, i dont see whats in here that anyone wants or needs....i used to live on my own and had to move back. I think this makes it feel even worse xx
Most surely have a bolt. Just needs an ability to line it up and screw it on.
If it's not your parents going through your things, then they might agree to a lock
