My Mum`s got a small area of hallway and wants to remove the carpet and replace it with some sort of cushion flooring. I`m pretty sure the floor`s concrete. Can you just put the cushion flooring straight on concrete or do you have to lay some sort of linining or underlay?

With a concrete floor, you'll only need to fill any hollows or imperfections with a simple floor levelling compound. I think it's probably best to glue it down as well.
Try Youtube. There seem to be plenty of these sort of videos :o)
In the past I have just put down random layers of newspaper to even it out. It worked pretty well.

Thanks for your answers. It`s a fairly new(ish) house so there might not be too many imperfections. I`m going to get a handyman to do it as I don`t think I`d attempt to do it myself.
It's not so hard. stick some sheets of newspaper together to the rough size of the room. Press into the corners and run a knife along the edge. If there is skirting all round add a little to slip underneath. Use this as a guide to cut your vinyl. fold the vinyl into four and then unfold into the edges. You will need a good stanley knife and make sure you have something underneath so you don't cut another surface. Handymen will cost you money. Newspaper is fine for lining. You can probably buy something as well. Make sure the surface is flat though. the pattern will wear if there are bumps. good luck!
