I wonder if anyone has bought one of those 'legless' car-ports and if so, are they recommended? I'm looking at the space at the side of my house and don't fancy digging foundations for pillars or posts.
The sort I have seen are done by canopies uk but I'm sure there are many other brands.

Moses.......... dig a couple of holes about 12" square. Tip a barrow of concrete in each .............. job done in less than an hour. Two simple timber posts. Having said that though, you might drive into a post :o(

Personal opinion only, but I think those legless one look a bit naff. Mainly because they have to make them so light. Someone on here recently had trouble with one coming away from the wall. They do put quite a load on the masonry.

Thanks Builder - it's your last point that I'm most concerned with and it's interesting to see this stated.
I think I will have to dig for victory - but fortunately it's not somewhere I'll be driving into, just an odd bit between two properties that will do well for being covered over.
