Potatoes left in the ground last year

I didn't get round to harvesting all the potatoes I grew last year and these are now growing.  (Can't remember the variety.)  Will these produce a decent edible crop this year?  Obviously, the ones you normally plant are special 'seed potatoes' so was just wondering what will happen with the ones I left in the ground.

Since they are growing, there's no harm in letting them continue.  The soil must not have frozen over the winter, otherwise they would have been rotten when the ground thawed.  Good luck!

When you harvest potatoes, leave the little marble sized ones on the haulm. Cut off two thirds of the haulm, and replant - you can put them back in about a third of the space you used first. Then you can have new potatoes for Christmas Day! I know this works, I heard it on a gardeing programme years ago & have done it many times.
