Looking for a good Washer/Drier

Hi,

My Washing Machine went bang on Saturday morning (terminal RIP!) and I have decided to look for a new Washer/Drier.

Anybody recommend a good reliable machine?
Approx £450 max.
Must be quiet and economical min 7kg.
Have read a few reviews online but they are strangers, I know you lot and would value your opinions?

Don't bother. Buy separates.

Agree.. there isn't a good washer/drier.

Buy separates, anything else is a compromise on both and if one part goes wrong you have to replace both.

I'm also not a fan... I'm also an ex domestic appliance engineer.

I've handed the repair bills over to people.

I'm on my second Bosch washer/dryer - my first lasted me just over 10 years without too much trouble. Bought the second one just after we moved here nearly 3 year ago, and it's going fine! I'd love a ktchen big enough to accomodate two separate machines but we always end up in houses with tiny kitchens!

My washer and dryer do not live in the kitchen.

Mass....get a dryer and put it somewhere else.

I had a washer/drier once, and believe me once was enough. I now have separate washing machine and drier. Lovely.

And save yourself the stupid electricity bills dryers cause!

Driers do use a lot of electricity so only use them when it is absolutely necessary. Which, come to think of it, is all the time at the moment.

The vultures were circling over the local Comet yesterday, may have a look how much they've reduced them before deciding. If I can negotiate a decent warranty I may go for it. if not I'll just get a good washer and use the radiators!

headwreck, I believe the warranty's, with Comet in admin, are with the manufacturers of the product, I'll find out when I ask.

I had a Hotpoint washer/drier, it was so good (not) I still use the washer but bought a separate drier.................

Mick, had a quick look, looks quite cool but apparently gets too hot and melts according to the reviews. Cheers

Can't you put a dryer in the garage mass...............that's where mine is.
