Can anyone recommend a good variety of tomato seed, just a normal tomato, not beef, cherry, heirloom or plum.

Many thanks

Thank you both, I'll have a look.
I think there was a popular variety called Ailsa Craig. Good flavour.
Ailsa Craig and Alicante are good and reliable. Don't touch Moneymaker with a barge pole - utterly tasteless.

Thanks Bob and Diddly.
Tumbler is very nice - more of a bush than the traditional varieties - easy to grow :)
Im growing Shirley and ferline this year, the latter for its apparent blight resistance.

Dave, I think I've heard of Tumbler, I'll do a selection I think.

Hammerman, I'd forgotten about blight, 2 years ago my toms succumbed, I haven't grown anything on that parch since, do you think 2 years is enough time for the disease to have buggered off? I was going to put toms there this year.
The year we grew some "blight resistant" ones, they were the first plants to get blight!
