I have just inherited s beautiful antique wardrobe, the trouble is it really smells of mothballs.  I don't want to put any clothes in it as then they will smell.  Does anyone know how I could get rid of the smell of mothballs from the wardrobe?  Thank you.

You might not be able to. If it is a beautiful antique, it might be lined with camphorwood. This was done to protect the clothes stored in it and smells ....you guessed it.... of mothballs

Thank you.  I don't know if this helps, but it is a Mahogany piece.
Is it the same wood inside and out? Camphorwood was often used as a thin lining layer inside a carcase of a different wood
