Miele Or Siemens?

I currently have a Bosch washing machine which is fifteen years old and has become unreliable. Today it refused to spin and I had to empty the water out using the little drain pipe at the bottom! It had turned itself from rinse to finish and I was stuck with a washing machine full of soapy clothes. Anyway, I think it's time for a new one.
I've had a look at Miele and Siemens washers. Can anyone recommend a particular machine from either of these makers? The dearest Miele one seems to be over £2000. That's a lot of money. Is it worth paying that?

I love Miele myself, but acknowledge they are expensive.

I am pretty sure though that you get a perfectly decent, perfectly reliable, efficient and pleasing machine for a fraction of £2000 :)

Miele washers invariably come top in all the Which? tests. We have one which cost the best part of £1000 and is nothing short of excellent. It came with an included 10 year (all inclusive) warranty.

Yes Tilly, The Milel , the engineering is wonderful. Last a lifetime. I wish I could afford one, when I left my ex, I left it plumbed in ....bummer.

We also had a Bosch machine for quite a number of years and like you it packed in. We replaced it with another Bosch as they seem so reliable. I'm surprised to didn't get another Bosch?

personally, i'd never buy any white goods unless they were Bosch. You've had 15 years from yours which is pretty amaizing these days....go for another one.

Before buying the new Miele, our AEG washer had given 17 years trouble-free service. However, The near perfect reliability of Miele (somewhat better than Bosch, according to Which? data) won me over. Miele engineer their washers to last at least 20 years.

I have a Bosch washer and a drier. Both are still going strong after 13 years (hope I haven't spoken too soon.) Miele products always come out top, their vacuums seem to do well too, but a bit expensive.

Well I personally would not want to spend £2000 on a washing machine.

Just a thought, you could try and save some money this time round by having the electric motor Carbon Brushes checked out and replaced on your Bosch machine.

A common problem on washing machines, especially if the machine has been running and well used for a number of years. Carbon Brushes cost about 10 to 15 pounds + Labour.

Unless you have a very large family I can't think of any reason the spend £2K on a washing machine, what's the advantage?

It sounds like you can get four Boschs for the price of a Miele. If each one of them lasts 15 years it sounds like a better deal than buying a Miele that only lasts 20.

My new machine is fab.
It does a fifteen minute wash for 'very lightly sioled clothing'.

None of my clothing gets soiled unless I eat Spaggy Boll. Then, it becomes 'soiled'.
