There's a small outlet hole on the shelf covering the motor at the bottom of the fridge, it seems to block up and sometimes ice up - don't want to prod hole in case I break something - any ideas as to what could be causing it and a remedy?Fridge is about 10 years old, and the hole isn't big enough for a pea to have lodged itself inside.

When it defrosts, the water runs down the wall and should be able to run through this hole to a collection tray covering the motor / compressor. The hole should be kept clear - most fridges have a small plastic, loose-fitting "thing" in this hole which you can jiggle around to keep it clear.
Presumably it's icing up because the water can't escape - you need to carefully clear the hole. Some gentle prodding may be involved!
