Kitchen Working Surfaces edge trims
4 Answers
I've bought many kitchen working surfaces over the years. Usually you get a sort of laminated plastic strip thingy whenever you buy one which is the same colour & pattern as the surface. I have never quite worked out how to attach it to the edge of the working surface. Any suggestions? Or is there an 'official' way of doing it?

Otherwise get down to your local diy store and buy a small tub or tube of evo stik contact adhesive. Spread this thinly onto both surfaces, wait about 10 mins (or until touch dry) then whilst lining the top edge as flush as poss with the surface press firmly into place. leave to dry for an hour or so then carefuly file off the front and underside of the top.
I aggree with handya, but you should seal the chip board marerial first with the contact adhesive. Spread the contact adhesive onto the worktop and let it go touch dry. This first coat will soak into the chip board. Then apply a thin coat to both the worktop and the laminate. Press both surfaces together and ensure an even coating then remove the laminate. Let the surfaces stand until the adhesive is touch dry and then re-apply the laminate, being carefull to align the top edge slightly above the top of the worktop. When dry trim off the protruding edges with a smooth file. Follow these instructions and you will not fail.
