New Ch Pump Needed ??

Hi all
Last Sunday my CH and Hot Water "packed up". The boiler, a 4 year old Vaillant Ecotecplus showed a fault code of F22. Googled the fault code and got the following result :"Dry Fire" - their words not mine. Also showed: 1) Faulty Sensor, 2) Faulty CH pump 3) Lack of Water in system. I checked the header tank, all was fine apart from some "bits" floating. I gave it a "stir" to try and clear it. Checked the CH pump (Grundfoss), it was set on the middle speed, so decided to up it to the top speed and try firing the boiler. This worked, the boiler fired up, stayed alight and all was well. After 30 minutes I returned the pump setting to the middle speed and since then no trouble. Using process of elimination, can I assume that the pump will soon need replacing or am I barking up the wrong tree ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If the pump does need replacing, does it have to be Grundfoss ?

You may have been unlucky with a bit of muck got stuck in the pump impeller, but has now got cleared. Main sign of a pump starting to fail is it not starting to run when CH is switched on.
I had a similar fault some time ago, but the pump has performed faultlessly for about 4mths so you might be the same.
Grundfoss is a good make but you can use any pump you like, provided it has the same ratings and sizes.

It is not recommended to stir round the water in the header tank, some muck does settle in there. So, not a good idea ☺

"Dry Fire" with an F22 code just means the boiler can't fire because the system pressure is too low.
There was a problem (since rectified by Vaillant) with the water pressure sensor getting clogged.......... often due to lack of proper flushing when it was installed. A new sensor now sorts this out.
Upping the pump pressure possibly just cleared the blockage. I don't think you have a pump problem........ just the sensor.
