Can I Use The Water From My Condensing Clothes Drier?

My drier stores water taken from the wet clothes in a tank which I normally dispose of down the sink. I was thinking though , could I use this water in my steam iron as its clean? Is it suitable for watering my houseplants? Thanks!

My next-door neighbour pours his dryer water on his plants in his garden. He's done this since last October (when his baby arrived) and his plants are still thriving.

My guess is that since it would be evaporated and condensed, yes you could use it in your iron. But best to get a further opinion though, just in case. Less sure about house plants, do they like their water pure or with minerals ? Wouldn't have thought it'd hurt though.

My goodness that was quick. Thank you bookbinder. Technically I suppose its like distilled water so should be ok for the steam iron too?

Yes, I do and my plants are still alive. Even the dead one has come back to life. That could be due to our evening chats though.

I thought the same so I used it, but forgot about sieving the fluff out at first! I didn't have any problem with the ironing, so hopefully it is OK to recycle it.

hi brum lady. I've no fluff in the water its crystal clear, the fluff gathers in a mesh at the front of the drier. Following the replies I think I'll try it in my steam iron and maybe on a plant I'm not that fond of. Thank you for the prompt replies.
