Insurance charge?
2 Answers
I have had a 5 year insurance policy on a carpet. The conditions were that my money would be returned after 5 years if I didn't make a claim - the amount being 135. I did call the insurers out once because I was going to make a claim, but in the end decided not to. The insurers now want to deduct 39 from the above sum for the chap coming out to my house and making a report. I can't see anything in the policy regarding this. Is this in order?

Basically your insurance company is going to try and win this by wearing you out.
You should ask them under which term of the contract they made this decision not to give you a full refund.
Also I'd be inclined to check their definition of a claim and if it doesn't include the guy coming to make a report then I'd hit the over the head with that as well.
If all else fails at the telephone then ask what their formal complaints procedure is, if they can't or won't tell you address a letter to the company's head office for the Chief Exec / Managing Director and see what they say.
