Glass Or Polycarbonate Conservatory Roof?

I have seen a few ads recently saying that glass is much better for insulation. Is there that much difference or is it just as sales ploy? Does anyone have experience of comparison? Also does anyone know the price difference between the 2? Thank you.

Not much insulation I'm afraid, from either. Polycarbonate is slightly better because of the twin-wall structure with air in between. Single glazing is very poor. Using "low E" glass is better, but no comparison with double glazing.

Most conservatories are not constructed to carry the load of glass, certainly not double-glazed units. It depends on how the structure is built.

If you have to use Poly, then maybe go for this...............

It's a new one on me, but it certainly looks like an improvement Ratts.

I can't comment on a conservatory - but we have a greenhouse with polycarbonate sheeting and have found that the panels (despite plenty of W clips) have a tendency to blow out in strong winds. I don't want to put you off, but do check how the panels will be fixed.
