I need a radiator removing from a wall and new shorter double radiator fitting . i have been quoted £228 + vat for this. The quote is to drain the CH, supply and fit 700 h x 500 w (DP) (double panel) radiator with TRV. The carpets and floorboards will need to come up and probably the pipework moved to left rather than one side staying in the same position. Does that quote look about right, please?

It sounds reasonable to me. There's quite a bit of work involved.
Without all the measurements it isn't easy to guess. The cost of a 700x500 RAD is (last time I actually purchased one) is about £60-70 inc VAT. The price doens't look too bad to be honest
The draining/flushing (what ever the person wants to call it) is just spiel. It's just to make it look more than it is. It is a job to do but really draining a system is pretty simple especially for a plumber. It just looks good on a quote :)
And before anyone jumps on me and rides me over this, I've done plumbing and I know the size of the job at hand, I've replubmed my mums house. I'm just not qualified (which I don't need to be). Arff!
I think that's a fair price too, Bambers. Draining and re-filling takes most of the time.
If you got a few more quotes, you might be able to decide easier.
