How Much Per Litre Does Water Cost?
26 Answers
Does anyone know how much per litre household water costs through a water meter please? We have just moved house and find to our horror that there's a water meter and have no idea who the water supplier is even. We are in Herefordshire so think it's probably Welsh Water but I still can't find a /per litre price on any of the water companies websites. We need to use 12,500 litres or thereabouts shortly so would like to know first how much per litre it is. Fanks very much:)

South West water charges £2.05 per cubic meter so your 12,500 liters (12.5 Cubic Meters) will cost just over £25 per year.

A meter is normally a lot cheaper than paying water rates which are based on the value of your house.
I have just got a water meter and I expect to save over 50% of what I was paying on the water rates.

Hi,
Ours is anglian water, and the sewage is based on how much water you use, as they reckon the get 90% back as waste water. As it is a combined price, using the tap less, and not using a hose helps, but meters a horrid thing, frightened to have a bath now. just a quick shower. Use water butts for the plants, usre the kids paddling pool water for the plants as well, wasn't like this 30 years ago. i am told that the water companies are now owned by foreign companies, and we have the highest water rates in europe, and, when they bought us out, they sold lots of water resoivers ( spelling wrong) for building works. so we are stuffed again by non british.

Just do not go mad with a garden hose watering the garden, a hose and sprinkler can use a months worth of water an hour.
I once worked at a sports centre and the hockey club wanted to water the pitch , they put a hose on and left it for 48 hours constantly . We got a bill for 2,000 cubic meters !! (£4000 and the hockey club could not pay us back)
