Wasps Nest

Friend has a nest in his brick shed.doesn't want to pay council to remove it I suggested lighting a couple of disposable bbq trays and blocking the bottom of door with wet towels...any other ideas ?

There are no flames with bbq trays and the shed is brick with concrete floor

On the basis that if you light these in an enclosed space with no ventilation the oxygen is drained..hence this has been used in suicide cases...

as a matter of interest, how much would the council charge to remove it? You could end up with a shed full of very angry live wasps!

The last time we called the council in it cost £25 to rid us of wasps - well worth the cost IMO.

A large-ish paraffin heater might have the same result, without any fire risk.

Once lit and no flame present as it would be to cook on...I'm not suggesting it goes in aflame !

Evil little sods! They had a nest next door to my MIL's place & swarmed into the kitchen one hot summer's night when I was washing-up. I legged it, shut all the doors & called the council the next morning.

The pest-monkey turned up, did something up the ladder then ran like stink when they went for him. He returned in protective gear & got rid of the b*ggers - cost, about £30 as I recall.

You can buy a DIY spray called Wasp Nest Destroyer. Guess what it does?
It's a aerosol that fires a jet (not a spray) of death and destruction killing everything it touches.
The only downside is that you really need to be facing your target so you're in with the intended victims. It's almost instamtaneous death to them though.
BTW our council doesn't charge for removal from domestic premises. :)

Hi Warty! No, we never had rats. I was clearing up after the dinner party I'd hosted & I guess the wasps liked the light - the windows & doors were all open, so it gave them easy access :-)

How big is the nest I agree get a spray give them a good dirt nd run like the dickens they do get angry .
