Can you overload a freezer? and if so what happens?

Don't think you can overload it electrically but if you put too much stuff in the freezer and the air can't circulate it may not freeze the stuff in the middle properly or perhaps take a long time for it all to get to -18c.

My freezer book tells me to only freeze 5kg of unfrozen stuff at a time maybe that's the problem as the motor is having to kick in full wack to keep the temperature down.

I usually find if I overload it the shelves won't go back in and the door won't shut.
