As with most other annuals, pansies should be planted in the spring.  However, having said that, if you want some color and fall blooms, you can probably find them discounted at most garden stores.  Often, they will winter over and if they do, they tend to spread rapidly to other areas by way of the small seeds.  Good luck!

There will soon be (winter) pansies available in the shops & garden centres.  Actually they don't always flower an awful lot until the spring unless you live in a very mild area.  Buy the best & biggest ones that you can with as many flowers on as possible because that may be as good as they get until next year.

Early next year look for seeds & grow your own. You'll find a much better range & many more unusual varieties!

Also, in order to keep them flowering as long as possible, make sure you dead head them regularly.
