Bug Box
Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm pretty new to this, but I put up a bug box. and in two of the tubes, that normally would be for Mason bees, have been closed up with leaf bits, and they have been packed tight, could you possibly tell me what insect this might be please.
Thanks

If I'm reading your post correctly your 'Bee Hotel' has been taken over by the Leaf Cutter Bee. There are seven kinds of these bees in the UK, so if you've noticed semicircular and oval sections missing from the leaves of your roses, hedges and other garden plants - then this is the culprit.
It's a bit late now but for next year I shall certainly be buying a tube box. A brilliant idea!
