I had some curtains that blocked out the light in my bedroom but they were so old I've had to dispose of them. I've replaced them with very light curtains that unfortunately let all the light in, and now I can't sleep very well. Can anyone think of a way I can block out the light? I'm on a budget. I maybe could use Freecycle. I don't want to change the curtains I've just bought as they suit the room very well. I just want to sleep well again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I had some vertical blinds fitted a few months ago in a bedroom that gives total blackout when closed. Other than that I can only think of hanging a large blanket across during the night.
Thanks all for your answers. The curtain rail is stuck along the whole length to the wall so I can't hang a blanket over it unfortunately, but otherwise would've been a good idea as I'm looking for a cheap/free solution.
Argos do cheapo blackout blinds which you can cut to size, fit as close to the window as you can and get a roll of velcro patches spaced every 12" or so for the sides.
