Somebody just emailed me this clip

It is the people at the station and how they board the roof of the train that I find unbelievable, but it is what they do!

Similar things happen in Ireland as well:-)
They actually employ people in Indian stations to push people into already full carriages. How you get off at your stop I have no idea.

I experienced the pushers in Japan.
Graham you don't, you just have to get off when you can lol. On the worlds craziest fools (Broadcasted previously on BBC Iplayer) they showed something similar to what happens in India. They actually push people in. I will try and find the clip where 3 members of staff get behind a crowd of people and manage to push all of them into the carriage.
It isn't the exact one but I have the feeling this happens to every train that alighs in that station.

It must have been Japan I was thinking of. Not India.

We went to Toyko a couple of years back and never came across these 'pushers'. We were at Shinjuku (sp) station, the busiest station, at rush hour and found the people to be extremely polite, no pushing or shoving, everyone given their own space, etc. I found it a wonderful experience and would love to go again (for another blast on the Bullet train!).
Great video grasscarp,

Where's the ticket collectors when you need them?
