Why are you advised against using fabric conditioner when washing cashmere?

Does the silicone cause actual harm or just temporarily spoil the feel of the fibre........and will subsequent washing remove the silicone coating?

says here that it matts the fibres. http://strattonnorris.co.uk/cashmere-care

We never use fabric conditioner on anything, don't see the need for it.

Hhhmmmm, I'm not sure I understand that as I thought matting was caused by using too hot a wash. Perhaps they are referring to the feel rather than the actual effect.

I'm not going to stress too much, they've come out of the machine the same size they went in so all is not lost!
I've never understood why anyone ever uses fabric conditioner for anything.
