Repairing An Old Cast Pot?

I have an old pot that I think is made of cast iron or something. I've been told that it cannot be welded. Two of the three small leg supports have come away from it and I would like to do something that will help it stand level again and also repair the holes left from the legs coming away. Someone suggested making a base for it to sit in but has anyone any other suggestions? By the by it is being used as a flower pot.

Take it to a local garage & see if they can do anything with it. I know that cast iron can be brazed.

It is sometimes possible to weld cast iron that is not too porous, but the welds will have little strength. Perhaps a steel plate with legs could be fabricated that could be bolted to the bottom of the pot.

I used the stuff Carrust recommends on a fractured cast iron rain collector (the thing attached to the top of a rainwater downpipe), and it's like its never been damaged.

Maybe it is its use as a flower pot that has encouraged it to rust away. If you repair one leg, how are the others looking ?

If you follow the instructions on the product carrusts recommendation should do the job cosmetically and could even allow light usage.

It can be welded, but I used that stuff on rusty's link and found it to be very good.

That glue sounds good. However I don't think I have the legs that fell off but I might see if I can find something suitable and try using it then just paint out over. Thanks.
