How do i get rid of it, i have bait and traps down, has eaten the bait, but wont get into a trap. Its massive, i have seen it run past me. Its fat too. It makes rummaging noise most of the night.

Its ripped up the laminate in corners.

It needs to be gone before new baby comes.

Any suggestions will be so very welcome. x

Ring the council tomorrow, get the ratman out.

Oh i didnt think of that. thanks boxtops xx
Like what Boxtops says.
If any delay of problems, look around for any holes it's getting in through and plug these with something solid - even builders expanding foam.
My guess is it's getting in the same place that the bath waste goes out through the wall, and where any pipework comes up through the floorboards.
Are you the sole tenant of the building, or is this problem affecting other tenants? If so a joint complaint may be more effective than you on your own.
They charge about £30, but to be honest the guy I had out was next to useless. All he did was lay poison down anyway. And Roland never was found!
Is it Ratatouille ? :-)
we contacted our local council pest control who did the job didn't charge
You need to without delay follow the advice given above, especially since your description suggests the individual is a pregnant female.
''especially since your description suggests the individual is a pregnant female''

;-p
No Redman it's not me, promise.
The OP is a pregnant female, not the rat :-)
Do not fill the holes with builders foam. We did that and it just ate straight through it. You can buy rat poison at local DIY stores, not nice for the rat but at least you will not be sharing your home anymore and worrying about your soon to be new baby.

Lol at karl. you nearly gave me heart attack haha. I just want it gone before my new baby arrives, i don't trust the littler blighters. Well it has eaten 2 packets of bait, so we will see if we hear anything tonight. x
It may take a couple of days to take effect but it usually works. We live in the countryside and do get them occasionally and that is always our solution.

Well, it ate the bait last night and the chocolate on the trap was gone, the trap had gone off, but the rat was not there this morning. All night i heard rummaging and rattling, had not a wink of sleep. Tonight i have set 2 traps near each other, and added further 2 packets of bait...i hope i see some results tonight. Council want £66 and i really don't want to pay that without trying myself first.
Question Author
The bad part is that i need the toilet twice a night, and the rat is not helping! lol
steel wool or the steel scourers are better for plugging holes but you need to ram lots in

Question Author
how would i be fast enough to do that...scriven.
Is it still there, phleb? If so, it's worth paying the £66!
