If so do you understand all this stuff on Tariffs. They don't make it easy to choose the best option.

I do but have been remiss at checking for cheapest tariff. I'm sure they all make their bills are difficult to follow as they can get away with so you haven't a clue where the figures come from.

OK I did it, and it says
Tariff Check – We look at your last twelve months’ energy use to see if there’s a cheaper British Gas tariff for you.
so I'll let them tell me if I could have a better one - we're at present on the
Gas Online Variable May 2014 - that at the moment is cheaper than the other 2 they are offering me.

I've just had a look and there appears to be not a great deal of difference in the tariffs, they've all got a 26p per day standing charge and unit rates fluctuate by a penny or two. At the moment I think my best bet is to lock in for 1 year incase the bloody rates go up again. I'll have another look tonight and make my mind up?

I recommend that you work out how much electricity and gas you use a year and go to the uswitch site to compare providers and tariffs. It will show you the British Gas tariff most suited to your usage, but it will also show you some other suppliers who are a lot cheaper. Switching suppliers is easy. If you decide not to switch, uswitch won't contact you. http:// www.usw itch.co m/
