My last electric kettle went wrong at the weekend. I was thinking of having a whistling hob kettle instead. Any recommendations please?

Kettles are designed differently for different hobs, Apart from that, I don't think there's much difference between them, price excepted. But do watch out for some that, when the water is being poured out, the steam rising from the spout can feel uncomfortably hot on your hand.
What kind of hob?
Unless you have an Aga (or other 'permanently hot' hob), it is much more efficient to boil the water in an electric kettle - safer too as it will cut out once the water is boiling.

Gas hob, giveup.
I've got one of these:

BUT they do take a long time to boil compared to an electric one.
