Does anyone know where I can get rid of 2 x 220g Butane Gas Canisters (Full ones). They are used to operate a small Camping Stove.

I have phoned Bassetlaw Council, Nottinghamshire Council, been to the Local Tip, also a Caravan supplier and although they take the large type bottles. do not take the small canisters. I have also been on to several local recycling firms who also do not want to know. Hazardous waste !!

I do not feel it would be safe to place in the dustbin and would hate for anyone to get hurt if they exploded/ignited. I have also tried the manufacturer but they are not in business any more apparently.

Help please.

Put an Ad in one of your 'Local' Papers such as Loot, Bargain Pages etc.
Someone will buy or take them off your hands
Have you tried your local calor gas depot? I'd be surprised if they didn't take them or at least tell you how to get rid.
if they are full someone may still want to use them could you not try the free ad place called gumtree

Google your local recycling groups.

Have been onto several re-cycling companies locally but no joy, also perhaps I forget to mention that these must be at least 5 years old, that was why I was so concerned. ill have a go at local Calor Gas Depot. Thank you all very much
Go into the garden and operate the mechanism that releases the gas. Don't worry about it. Then, when they're empty put in your wheelie bin. PS Best not to be smoking at the same time!

Thanks Diddlydo, I will do that. Much appreciated
Seriously, if they're full, why not just advertise them in a local paper or on the web such as freecycle. People will love to take them off you.

Be careful if you let them off in the garden, the gas is often ice cold when released and can damage fingers etc
Freecycle, everyone loves a bargain
