I bought a sorry-looking bald twig for 2 in Woolworths last year which claimed it was a cherry tree. I planted it and it has really taken off with loads of new (very thin) branches all covered in leaves and we did get some blossom in the spring. The problem is the branches are very thin and all droop on to the ground. Should I prune some of them out so strengthen the rest and if so shich ones should I choose and when should I do it?
I didn't know there was such a thing as a weeping cherry tree. I'm really not much of a gardener (but I reckon most people could have guessed that!!!!!) :D)
Thanks woofgang, I didn't keep the packet but you've been very helpful. I think maybe it is a weeping cherry. I'll just stake it and see how it does next year. Thanks again.
