Patio Paving Slabs Infill

I'm so fed up with weeding between paving slabs on the patio. What's the best way of stopping them returning? We've used a pressure washer to get rid of the mud in the gaps, now what do we do?

Use a residual herbicide, such as a mixture of glyphosate and diflufenican ('Pathclear' from Scott's), or glyphosate together with flufenacet and metosulam ('Bayer Path & Drive Weedkiller').

When you have applied the herbicide, brush sand into the gaps. That will help to smother any weeds that might escape the herbicide. The type of sand isn't important.

I use 'soft' sand and as long as its dry will brush in easily. I use 'pathclear' as well and repeat the 'pathclear' about every 9 months.

instead of clearing the gaps, why not plant something you might like to see growing between the slabs. A few options.... thyme, camomile (lovely scent when walked over) something else that's really pretty and a good self seeder is Erigeron karvinskianus. Even moss can look attractive. If clean gaps are your preference an annual application of any RESIDUAL weedkiller should do the job.
