This plant keeps wilting. I am being careful about over watering as it tends to get yellow leaves and they fall off. It is lightly damp at the moment. Should I water a bit more ? Not sure how much of the link I need to print, sorry

It's a Dracaena Marginata and they don't like wet feet but do like a good bit of light.
I have two of those...quite a bit smaller than yours ;-) I always let them go a bit dry. They will also shed their lower leaves as they grow taller. That's natural for them...(wish I could remember what its called, lol)
Does it need re-potting?
I'm with Rusty...could need a larger pot...x

I might have a look at the roots tomorrow, its a bit of a job as it is so large! Also wondering what to do when it reaches the ceiling, its about 3feet away ....
You could re-pot it with all that dust on the floor:-)
You can chop off a stem and it will regrow.

What dust carrust ....??
Take no notice, smurfchops, he's yanking your chain.

Tonyav can I use Baby Bio ?
I should think so, smurfchops, have you got some handy.
I wouldn't feed it any Baby Bio until it has dried out a tad.

It's worth bearing in mind that this plant grows from the top and old leaves drop off from below, you could just be seeing natural loss.

I had one of these plants a few years ago, in the same spot, it went very spindly with lots of yellow leaves dropping off cos I think I over watered it.... I replaced it with this one.
Spindly and yellowing sounds like too much water and not enough light......especially if it is the second time round!

Thanks all, just lifted the inner pot out and roots coming thru bottom.... Got to repot tomorrow ....
Hi smurfchops

I have one of these plants in my tv room - it's doing really well - the room is cool, I give it a good watering once a month but spritz it well about 3 or 4 times a week - from Spring until say Sept give it a feed with the monthly watering. In the Winter when the heats on I spritz it well on a daily basis as they hate their leaves being dry - lack of humidity causes the brown tips and over watering isn't good for it either. I only use rain water and on a day like today - warm but with steady rain, it's having a few hours outside.
And they hate draughts smurf so make sure it isn't in one.

rsvp I read that you could put these outside in spring and summer, so I put mine out at the end of April. After one week it looked dreadful so I brought it back in again. It now looks as if it's fighting for its life and I'm so cross as it was magnificent until I moved it.

Oh and the chap in the GC said Baby Bio would be fine for it and it was.
shame about your plant ladybirder -I only leave Simon (don't ask!!) out for a short while and not overnight.
