Apologies if this is not the correct place but I am having problems
Water is accumulating under the salad containers - there is a small drain towards the bottom of the fridge which is filling with water
I am presuming this is blocked
How and where would I unblock it?

Many thanks (as always) for your help

Just my personal experience of that vague type of Fridge-Freezer with the drain hole under the salad bins. When the drain hole gets blocked the salad bins float on smelly water. After clearing a bockage. I squirt with Dettol Surface Cleaner because it is safe with plastics.

stick a straw into the hole and give it a good blow.always worked for me.
Poke a cotton bud through hole ?
Pull out the freezer & you'll notice a pipe that runs from the back of the fridge to a hopper that sits on top of the motor. This is the pipe that is blocked. Get some wire & give it a good poking till you unblock it. Before you do this I would see if it's anything obvious that is covering the pipe in the fridge.
if you are using the straw technique, DO NOT suck!

Carrust - please could you tell me the name of the pipe - I can look online for an illustration then

Many thanks to you all
Ric: think you are misunderstanding. Inside the fridge you can see that water is not draining away down the drain-hole. Get something thin and flexible (wire or old electrical cable) and poke it down the hole...the water should drain away down the plastic tube (pipe) as it should be doing normally.
agree with carrust give it a good poking!

...just to add - these drain-holes usually have a little loose plug-thing in them that you can wiggle around to keep the hole clear...

I'm just wondering where this water will drain to?

Thanks for your answers - I was using the turkey baster to empty it!!!

Sorry methyl did not see your answer
I'm not at home at the moment so no idea about the make
It's a silver one - does that help ;-))

The water drains into a pan which sits on top of the compressor. The compressor gets hot and evaporates the water. The blockage can be mould or other fungus which has grown on minute food particles in the damp conditions. I squirt a little milton fluid down mine occasionally to bump off the mould spores.
For one so keen on specifics I am tickled by your generalisation that a blockage in a fridge would be caused by breadcrumbs Methyl!

I am loving the fact that we have narrowed it down to a silver one - I shan't add any further hep as mine have always been white ones.

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;-)
