Looking To Put In A Woodburner This Summer/ Was Told I Need A 5Kw/6Kw

any advice in what to go for or what to avoid, and i have a max of £1000, to spend on stove. Thanks

my neighbour has a woodburner,he uses the drum of an old washing machine and it cost him £30 ,does the job nicely.

We bought a second hand Jotul on ebay for £350 it's astonishingly efficient compared to other wood burners we've had- just anecdotal but we've been really impressed with it.

5kw should do you depending on the size of your room. I have a 5Kw and it heats a through kitchen and lounge plus when I open the door to the stairs it all so warms 3 rooms up stairs. It’s the best thing I have ever had put in the house. It cost £1600 for the stove chimney and liners fitted in just one day. The stove was a Firefox 5Kw approx £450. Avoid stoves form china not very good quality . This is the company that I used but of course I don’t know which part of the country you live

Never has the expression "you get what you pay for" been truer than with woodburners. Jotul's are particularly good. Any of the Scandinavian top makes are worth a look.

In this country, have a look at "Woodwarm". Especially the one with the "Airwash" system that keeps the glass clean. I've fitted a couple of them, and the control is excellent. Quite traditional design. Not as sexy as the Scandinavians, but then, who is?
