Marks On Pvc Front Door

I have found a black smear mark on my front door...have got the worst off but it still shows(like a light grey wash effect)..tried EVERYTHING..even the speciaL stuff I bought for cleaning PVC ...can anyone suggest something...please!!!!

Yes,I have the horrid feeling it will not ever be removed,it could be worse as it is low down on the edge of the door...looks like a very faint grey "wash" now..If one doesn`t know it is there,may not notice...but I know!!!
Am going to try the suggestions made earlier and see what happens.

If all else fails you can sand the door (it works)

Not if the stain has penetrated the PVC, Roy. It could mean removing half the thickness of the plastic!!

But if all else has failed, kloofneck has nothing to lose. My mark was actually caused by a plumbers blow torch. I automatically assumed I would need a new door...but he sanded it out.

if it was sanded would it not look worse as it would take the shine off..no?

You will have to decide if you can live with the mark if chemicals fail to shift it.
Sanding worked on my door. Like heathfield I clean my upvc with cif.
