It has round flat "pods" which are greeny brown, with a few little seeds in them. It seems to be quite wild. I took a few of these pods and planted them, and now a little green plant has grown! Thing is, I don't know what it is called! The pods are about coin sized and totally flat, and slightly see-through.

Thanks!

Plant-Pods

They sound rather like Honesty, but I'm sure an expert will be along shortly!

Robinia where are you????

Although one of the pic's that look like Honesty, are called Money Plants.
Sounds very much like honesty to me (a cultivated garden plant).  The mature leaves have stiff hairs and feel a little 'sandpapery' to the touch.  The flowers are usually purple/pink but white flowers are also common.  The flowers have 4 petals in a cross formation and similar in shape to other members of the cabbage family.  The seed pods have a short 'spike' at the top and when ripe, the two sides of the pod easily rub off and blow away taking the seeds with them.  The dividing membrane remains and is silvery/transparent.  These are often used as decoration in flower arrangements.  Pictures of honesty will be found  here:

You are very welcome Scarlett - glad to be of assistance!

Oops too late - would have said honesty - honestly!!

It'll seed all over if you let it btw!

Honesty or lunaria biennis

Lovely cottage garden plant which is prized for its seed heads which can be dried. Spreads like mad too !

One of my favourite flowers.  They grow like weeds and you will never get rid of them and their scent on a May evening is divine and really heady.

These are they in my garden last May:

Wow FP- they are beautiful! At the moment, since I literally threw some seeds in a pot of soil, all I have is 4 cress-like tiny plants. I will let you know if they ever become anything more!!

Hi Smudge - in the US "honesty" is known as the money plant or silver dollar because of the seed pods - it's the same plant though!

Thank you Ursula - it did look identical, so I gathered it might be another country's name for it.

We grew Honesty in our last garden & I used to use it in my flower arranging courses. It's so pretty & quite a fascinating plant.

P.S. Your garden looks lovely FP.
