Can anyone recommend anything to stop rugs moving on a tiled floor and on carpets, I have tried Ruggies but they were useless, also tried double sided sticky tape but that was a nightmare to remove on the tiled floor.
Thanks in advance.

I use cheap blankets cut to size. Never ever polish under the rug.
We've just bought a 'Rug hold underlay' from John Lewis (on-line). Not cheap, at £24 for a 150 x 100 cm piece, but I can't praise it high enough. We only had to look at our rug and it would pucker up. Since this product, it hasn't moved a millimetre. I believe it can also be used on hard floors by reversing the underlay.
I've tried everything except the John Lewis one mentioned above, but nothing has managed to keep my bedside rug in place. I've even put two of the bed legs on top of it to hold it down, but it still manages to break free and creeps towards the door. :o(
There is some information on a product called Cybrergold, it easy and effective on all floors
