I don't know about floors but I spray my bathroom wall tile grout with milton's sterilising fluid then clean with a toothbrush. It takes a while but the grout comes up lovely.

Oh Daffy that would be so tedious for me. Just used bleach good bleach and white jif. It is not too bad but could be better.
Why ask then?
I'm sure I've seen grout whitener advertised. I suspect you "paint" it on, but I've never bought any to check.

Or you can scrape the top layer out, maybe replace it with new as if you were pointing.

Maybe if you used a Brillo pad on it (or standard wire wool maybe).
It's tedious (and painful) for me with my disabilities, I still do it though.

Thanks OG - think if I used wire wool it would loosen the grout too much.
Personally, jj, I'd change the bathroom floor to something that's much easier to clean. We have a karndean floor which it brilliant

Oh Tilly - floor is just down about 2 years.
Oh well. Next time, perhaps?
I've got karndean in my kitchen & I've found it excellent. Got some left over for the bathroom, which I'll do when I get a roundtuit. As for the grouting, I'd use bleach & a nailbrush. Wear all the necessary safety equipment;goggles are a must!!
unibond grout reviver. good stuff
