Wooden/laminate Floors Onto Tiles?

Is it okay to put a wooden or laminate floor directly onto a currently tiled floor rather than having to lift all of the tiles up first?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You don't say what sort of tiles they are. What you need is a rigid stable substrate. Assuming they are ceramic or quarry tiles, then that's fine.
Next you don't say what sort of wood. If you are talking about thick multilayer engineered board, which often has a top surface in real wood, then this has to be stuck down. Provided the manufacturer's guidance on the adhesive says the under material is OK, then fine.
If you mean that cheapo laminate that clicks together, then as per boxtops comment above.
