Cleaning With Exposed Oven Element

My oven is reasonably clean (because I rarely use it!) but I've noticed that the area behind the top element of my double oven needs cleaning - would really appreciate some tips on how to do this effectively. Not sure I should spray any propriety brand of 'spray on wipe clean' foam type product near the elements. Can't access the top of the oven directly as the element is situated about an inch or so below it. Am I being thick on this as it seems a problem to me.? Thank you

If you don't fancy using a propriety brand spray on cleaner maybe baking soda will do the job.

I have a strong suspicion that the heating elements in ovens are designed to cope with oven cleaner, otherwise oven cleaners would carry a warning such as 'DO NOT USE ON OVENS' :o)

point very much taken on board -jomifl - am convinced it's a design fault to have to clean a surface intertwined with elements whilst crouching on the floor

Late reply, but on some cookers elements will simply "unplug" to allow cleaning. Do you still have handbook, or know make and model no for cooker?

Because subtitles are gibberish - I am following cleaning with
baking soda and water - she closed the door - "did she heat oven up" thanks for answers.

oh thank you for letting me know
