Car Vavuum Cleaner

Thinking of buying a hand held one instead of lugging out the house one. Any recommendations,please?

I got rid of mine- it was just gathering dust.

To be serious we've had a couple overs the years (presents I think) but found they were nothing like as effective as a proper vacuum cleaner. We just drag the hoover out of the house onto the drive

I`ve got one and it never comes out of the garage. They`re not very powerful and a household vacuum cleaner is more more effective.

In my experience (here in the U.S.) you'll probably be less than thrilled at the ability of any hand held cleaner to equal that of a household one. They just don't have the suction capacity.

Having sad that, I did buy (several years ago) a Dirt Devil corded had vac (seen here: https://www.google.com/shopping/product/8276663555158676703?q=Dirt+Devil+hand+held+vacuums&hl=en&gbv=2&prmd=ivns&sa=X&ei=GOOiVLzoAYuhyQSyjoH4CQ&ved=0CDMQ8wIwAQ ) and it works as well or maybe better than others like it. Dirt Devil also makes several battery powered units one of which is an 18V model, which is about the highest voltage model I've seen, which means it should be better than most.

One problem is that few of the vacs I've seen have included add on tools that will help for cleaning under seats and narrow areas such as where the seats meet the center console, which is a dissapointment...

I've got one ( which I use ) it's ok but not as good or as fast as an household vacuum cleaner. It is convenient though.

On the rare occasions I cleaned my car I took it to the petrol station and used theres.

Mine has add on tools, Clanad. However after a few years of wear and tear mine tend to fall off !.

I agree entirely,factor-fiction, but my OH thinks a hand- held one would be easier for him at his age lol Have to smile seeing I've been doing just that for years! He cleans the outside and I do the inside. Saying that,I'm sure he's thinking that it's getting too much for me now.

Thank you all for your advice. Actually it was my OH's idea. He bought a Black and Decker one this afternoon -(I wasn't with him otherwise .....) Think it'll go back to the shop tomorrow -one of the tools is missing.

PS I'm a real mean Aberdonian-don't think it's worth buying one at our age-won't be driving much longer lol
