apple pips

if i palnt an apple pip. will it fruit after a few years ?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Probably not. Apple varieties are grafted onto a "rootstock"....a pip is grown for a few years then cut off to about 6" high. A named variety such as golden delicious or coxes is then grafted onto the "seedling. Get a good book on propagation and it'll tell you how to do it....it's very rewarding. Or you could always grow them from a pip and bonsai them. I have some 10 year old "pips" that are shaping up nicely as bonsai. Good luck |
