Thank you all for your diligence and suggestions, it's paid off I now know it's EUPHORBIA, it was suggested by a couple of people and I found the pictures on Google. I will now try and buy some for my own garden.

I thought that anyone helping me originally would know what it was about by my post title, as you who answered clearly did. Please check when you buy your euphorbia to see how toxic the sap is. Some euphorbias have poisonous sap.

Thank you atlanta I had no idea they could be poisonous, I will bear that in mind when buying one. Is it poisonous to other plants or to a person who touches the sap?

Many plants in the family Euphorbiaceae are dangerous if you handle them carelessly. In some cases, just one drop of latex on your skin can cause a rash the severity of which depends on how each individual reacts to it. If the white, milky latex touches a cut or sore or squirts into your eyes, you are courting trouble of major proportions.

Thank you boxtops, I will proceed with caution, I will still buy one but just watch and enjoy it, but will not be touching under any circumstances. It could be used to kill someone, it's better than leaving the soap at the top of the stairs.

Just out of curiosity you understand....how much sap would it take in say, a night time cup of cocoa for instance to do some......errr.....damage?.....☻

Beautiful plant.....had lots in my last garden with not problems....and will spread as much as you allow......x

I'll take your advice tonyav, and gness I'd hate to think you had killed someone but if you do, I would be interested in the outcome, e.g how much sap you used etc.
