New Extendable Garden Hose

Does anyone out there have one of these hoses - and can you fit them back to front? Because my new one is working in reverse i.e. when I switch the water on to start spraying my garden, the hose is constantly trying to shrink its way back to the tap..So I pull it out to the length its supposed to extend to and switch on and it does it again, shrinking back to the tap..Any ideas?

I have never owned one or used one. I thought the purpose of them was that you don't have to wind them up after you've finished using them. You just let it coil itself up afterwards. You have to keep it stretched out otherwise it coils up again

Using one in a long garden, you would be silly to put it down for a moment as it would disappear.

The point of them supposedly is (and my old one worked fine) they should only shrink when they are completely empty of water..So you switch off your tap and you continue spraying until the hose itself has emptied - and only then should they start to shrink back to the tap..As I said mine's doing it in reverse i.e. when its full of water.
