Since you are on now - you know I told you ab out the fire never working - and I am in the process of buying a new one but am worried since that last guy said oh you need to stuff the chimney - oh it is natural to cut out all kinds of excuses that I don't want the same thing happening to my new fire.

The last fire was bought sort in spring summer time therefore problems did not happen until winter until it was too late - he came out once and said it was what I said above. Do you think I just a faulty fire.

Remind me of the type of fire, Jenny. Was it an electric one?
Question Author
Yes - you know glow and 2 sets of heating and when heating went on - it cut out within seconds - mean something like 10-15 seconds. the guy said it was a safety cut out but my God - we want heat for goodness sake.
hey builder, would you mind looking at my q below too please?
Unless there's something special about the fire, Jenny, it shouldn't require a flue of any kind. I suspect there was a fault on the previous one.

Maybe rain got in (down the chimney), and caused the fire to short circuit and cut out if it wasn't faulty.

Can you tell me the make and model of the new one?
Question Author
no rain ever got down as chimney was stuffed to the max big time - which I thought attributed to the problem - I am sorry since I haven't actually bought the fire - only looking but lady told me it was a Dimplex
Whatever was done to the flue is irrelevant, Jenny. I still suspect a fault on the previous one ........... or it was installed badly, and overheated, but I strongly doubt this.

ok thanks for that Builder - I do think it was a fault myself .
