Upvc And How Affix Fly Curtain
17 Answers
I have just moved to a house which has UPVC fascias. I need to fix a fly screen to the back door. How do I do this? I am wary of fixing to plastic but there is nothing else I can fix the screen to. It is a metal chain and quite heavy. I do need it as we live in the country and there are flies about. TIA

Yes, I think that's your only option. Drill a small hole (3mm drill bit) into the door frame head that I mentioned earlier. As many as you need. Use size 8 screws (that's the thickness, not the length), but make sure you use self-tapping screws. They will cut their own thread into the plastic. Door frame uPVC is fairly thick. It will take quite a load.

murraymints and Jack there is only wall on one side, there is a window on the other which reaches to the fascia. I can't put it inside as the door wouldn't open at all. Murraymints we had a screen door on the property when we moved in but one of the dogs just put his head through and it was ruined. Builder we don't have a wall each side. Could we drill into the plastic and fit rawlplugs? Would it hold a heavy metal chain curtain. Many thanks for all your help, I really do appreciate it

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. We are concerned that attaching the flyscreen to the door will void our Everest guarantee on the new door and windows so we have attached it to the kitchen door. That means I will have to keep food inside the flyscreen in the kitchen and not defrost meat in the utility room sink. But it's working
