Wild Garlic
3 Answers
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of wild garlic, which has completely taken over my gargen, and overpowers anything I try to grow. Last year I spent most ofd the month of June digging it up. One wheelbarrowful a day. However this year it came back four times the amount. Is there no weed killer that will work?
Many thanks to all

The reasons most people find that glyphosate weedkiller doesn’t work are to do with how the weedkiller works. It has to travel right through the plant. If applied at too high a strength, the leaves will burn and wither protecting the roots which will then reshoot. Equally if you cut down the plants when the tops look dead, this will protect the root and the root will regrow. You might have to leave it the whole season to die but it will work. Digging up just breaks up the root and every tiny piece will regrow. You might get some regrowth next year but it will be less, just do the same again. Glyphosate and patience.
Thank ypou for your question, I have seen this in flower recently and thought it was pretty and was growing like bluebells so might try it, but now thanks to you I will leave it alone, I have enough problems trying to get rid of lily of the valley!! It creates a carpet underground and I have (so I thought) cleared the bed 3 times now and yes right now there is a lovely show of Lily of the Valley!!
