Is there any way of making towels smell less damp? I never used to have this problem but now do not have a tumble dryer so when a towel comes out of the wash and is aired it smells damp. I use a non bio washing powder and a 40 degree wash, would turning the washing machine heat up make a difference?
Thanks

you could wash the towels on 60 degrees..also you should add lots of fabric conditioner...you can also buy fabric deodrant sprays..they are quite good..or make your own with some lavender oil diluted in cold water and spray the towels..after the wash..
I referred your question to my wife, we have never had a tumble drier, she said she puts a couple of drops of 'zoflora' in with the washing.

Thanks, I'll give both suggestions a try!
Using fabric softener on towels (or anything else, but it doesn't really matter with anything else) makes them less absorbant, so you have to weigh up what's more important to you if you take that route: towels which smell of artificial fragrance, or towels which get you dry? :)
