I said weeks ago that nxt door had put their trampoline right nxt to our fence. Today they have visitors over . For 2 hours there has been several kids on it screaming, and I mean screaming, the entire time, whilst bobbing their heads up and down with every bounce. PLUS they have found a football and are bouncing that at the same time. It has come over fence three times so far, with a call of oi missus. I've given it back every time and I know I sound a right misery guts but they are doing my head in. They aren't tiny kids either. Hubby is saying don't you dare go and say anything but it's getting silly now. Your thoughts? Don't mind if you all call me a miserable cow lol xx

mowing the lawn is totally acceptable on a Sunday..People work during the week.
tell the kids to come in and retrieve the ball from your garden without your permission

( and then kidnap them and shut them in the cellar ... ) no that comes later
Let the children play. There are some right old miseries on here.
And, as Anne said, why shouldn't people mow their grass on a Sunday afternoon? People shouldn't be allowed to smoke in their own gardens was another belter from the AB net curtain brigade.
I cut my grass this arvo, right after I loaned my next door neighbour my hose so their paddling pool would fill quicker.
I then proceeded to smash up the handrails of the old deck we've removed to site our new greenhouse.
All the while dogs barked, kids screamed and parents shouted.
It's summer, get over it.
They've got 4 young kids next door, all under 8 years old and I love to hear them playing and enjoying themselves in the sun. The other side have young grandkids and we have 4 grandkids under 7. Love it......kids are good, let em be kids and play in the garden and be happy.
why should you have your peace shattered , if you dont say anything its your own fault, so go tell them to keep it down, or you could just go down the pub , not really ,you must say something , not to the kids ofcourse,
Hello "a miserable old cow lol xx".

Glad I didn't live next door to you whilst growing up.

Come to think of it, my kids would have had the same opinion as me.

Quite glad we have had understanding neighbours and we have been understanding towards others ourselves.
People moan that kids don't play out and are instead slumped in front of XBoxes, then complain when they are out playing, enjoying themselves- they can't win!

I'm afraid if you want total peace and quiet, you'll have to move to a more remote area.

I'm joining the "you're miserable" camp i'm afraid Smow- sorry!

I don't think it's the noise that is so much Smow's issue. It's the trampoline right next to her fence so the kids are jumping and see straight into her living room. If they moved the trampoline then I'm sure Smow will be more tolerant of the noise.

That would annoy me. I wouldn't want to close my curtains on such a lovely day so I could retain a small amount of privacy in my living room.

It is difficult in life to get exactly what we want. Some people actually like the sound of children playing.

You want relatively quiet garden time and the next door neighbours want to have fun. And there is often no easy way between the two.

Put the trellis up for privacy but in all honesty you can't stop kids having fun and making a noise. It is NOT bad parenting when kids make a noise in the garden (unless they are doing it maliciously of course). Saying so is just an easy cop out for not getting your own way.

By all means speak to the parents (when the kids are not around) and ask them to quieten the kids down every now and then so there is a bit of respite.

I know this does seem to be going against what most people are saying but in all honesty I think you are onto a loser if you make too much fuss.
Playing is one thing, screaming is quite another.

Both my neighbours have trampolines for the kids. I reckon they're dangerous without permanent supervision. I opt to take no notice as it's in their garden, but for sure it makes a mockery of any fences put up for privacy. Still; I'm, not doing anything to be embarrassed about. (Sudden itches excepted.)
Kids squeal. They have for as long as I remember, especially girls! I remember as a child looking at girls and thinking 'shhhh'
Don't be so miserable, let them play on the trampoline. You never know, one of them may fall off and break an arm or a leg and then it will be removed altogether.
It's the SCREAMING that get's you, especially after 4 hours non stop as my neighbours and I have had in the past. No reasonable person minds the sound of children playing, laughing and enjoying themselves. And I had the trampoline going on as well with them all staring into my living room. It hasn't happened since I had a word with the owner but I still keep my fingers crossed.
Try putting some of this over the fence onto the trampoline over night,
