Sensor Bins For The Kitchen !

I bought one of these recently from ebay. Its a 58 litre one, in lovely shiny stainless steel, and it took less that 3 days to arrive, via Argos ! ( only £39:98 as well ! )

But I am in danger of using up the 4xD batteries, as I can't resist "Waving my hand" over the sensor every time I walk past.

The way it shoots up and shoots back down again, 10 seconds later, is my newest toy.

I can see Naomi`s point about the hygiene. When I had my little under sink bin, I reused supermarket bags as bin liners and constantly took them out to the dustbin. Now, the same rubbish stays in the bin all week.

Big kitchen bins are one of my pet hates. Can't stand waste being left around.

does it open when batteries re gone? Where is the sensor? I am trying to find a way of keeping dog fromgetting in our bin

We have little bags for our 'under-the-sink' bin. They are made of corn starch apparently - they are not very strong so you need to fasten them up and put in big bin outside very regularly. Rolls of replacement bags are available from the travelling Library bus - but we've just fought off a challenge to remove said bus and it will now only call once a month. Might have to start counting bags... :(

Bednobs...the sensor is on the lid. If you look on my ebay link, its quite visible. You can easily open it when it is switched off and/or the batteries are dead.....it springs open but you will need to close it by hand. I haven't had mine long but it seems ideal if you have your hands full and/or don't want them to get soiled. Anyway, its a lot of fun !

Not sure if this could be for you, if your dog is clever enough, as it doesn't appear to be able to be locked shut.

There are 68 litres ones available as well.

Can I emphasise how shiny mine is !

jourdain, are you talking about those little bins just for food waste? I don't have one of those - just a little general waste bin that I put plastic liners in. Our council doesn't run a food recycling scheme and I wouldn't do it if it did. Horrible.

Y'all too civilised! Left over foods to pets or wildlife. Combustibles in open fireplace (behind screen) & burnt on chilly nights = warmth. Once per month approx clean ashes (1 tesco bag) & tip in my hedgerow; no home bin collection. Glass & tins emptied @ work bin.

Wheely bins for animal feed storage.

I just like gadgets. I was the first person I knew who bought a CD player, back in 1982, and I still have it, the Phillips model.

Difficulty was....there was no one I could borrow a CD off for years !

I've gone for a mid-answer, a nice Brabantia 30l.....pedal bin and no pyrotechnics as to vibrators or exploding tops.
